Words vs Deeds

Words and deeds, they count. If I don’t know you then that’s what I’m going to be looking for. It builds trust. Due diligence helps as well.

(Unless you work in my team. Then it gets flipped around. You have trust immediately - it’s yours to lose, we took care of everything else at interview)

A lot of discourse today about Microsoft’s announced ‘Recall’ function. My view is wait until people can get a proper look at it. I’m prepared to be surprised. But it’s very likely to be - not good (privacy, infosec, etc). But wait.

A lot of conversation about OpenAI and Scarlett Johansson. It made the BBC News app, normal people saw it (well it is Hollywood). I actually saw tech people post “Maybe Sam Altman can’t be trusted?”

Really? Ugh…do the reading.

Zitron said it better than I could today (linked). Our sector needs a lot more ‘Show me/prove it’ than ‘Er mah gerd it’s ah-mazing’ right now.
