Think of the end

I’m curious. When going through the IT RFP/Vendor selection process you obviously cover contract termination, but how many people ask ‘What if I want to move to a different Vendor?’

What are the technical steps?
What are any additional costs?
How long will it take?
Use a competitor as an example.

I haven’t asked that as often as I probably should have. If at all. Because you don’t expect to move. You’re working hard and have a really good selection process in place to pick the BEST system. That’s what you’re there for. Let’s get cracking. Progress to be made.

But from a risk management perspective it’s probably really good to ask those questions at the outset. I don’t think covering DR elements cuts it. Maybe it’s just the current environment we work in?

I kinda want to for the look on the Account Managers face…

But in all seriousness, I feel that’s a strong and immediate trust builder if a vendor can answer those questions.

Unless I’ve just been unlucky and missed all those Vendors with zero cost and zero hassle migrations..?
