Lawyers - be careful
Last thing before I enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend. This is too timely and incredible after my last post.
A cautious tale - be wary of technology trends. A lawyer in a Federal appeal case in the US used ChatGPT for legal research. It made up cases…which were then submitted to the court. When challenged by the court (WTH are these?) they then submitted screenshots from ChatGPT where it said they were real cases, as evidential proof.
The few law folk I know, and law social media, are having panic attacks at the mere thought of it. The firm and lawyer are in quite a bit of trouble (the latest filing in the linked page).
Common sense time.
