Egress Fees
Fascinating. AWS are removing* data egress fees. Only Microsoft left now. This is absolutely a result of the EU Data Act (I think). But it’s effective globally rather than just the EU. Too hard to just carve out a region?
AWS follows Google in announcing unrestricted free data transfers to other cloud providers | TechCrunch
AWS has revealed that it will allow customers to transfer their data out of its ecosystem with no so-called “egress fees” attached.

Regardless, will we see a rapid and large move between cloud providers or adoption of multi-cloud strategies?
Probably not. The adoption of AWS specific tools and all the connect-y bits are a big enough roadblock to a lot of organisations. But the option is a little more attractive now.
*I did grin. Like moving your broadband or mobile provider, you have to give them a call first.
