Data centres need a lot of power
Hmm. So this is interesting reading as I was mulling this over earlier this week

AI needs a lot of power so we use wind farms…simple.
➡️ You’re in competition with national infrastructure that needs to decarbonise energy sources. That’s a tricky tightrope. Tech companies are already seeming a little out of touch right now

➡️ You can’t get into wind farms yourself as that would be silly. So better to partner with one of the renewable companies. It needs to be worthwhile on their end.
➡️ You have to compete for the offshore licenses. That’s multiple billions, plus running and maintenance costs.
I will keep banging the drum - these are crazy costs piling up…for what? What’s the balancing revenue on the other end? The advertising money tree is not going to keep funding this surely?
