Always about costs

Tech is cool, but It’s always about costs. Often missing from a lot of conversations.

Salesforce eyes pricing per AI conversation
Benioff sees ‘very high margin opportunity’ in bid to ‘monetize’ productivity gains

Investors concerned efficiencies will result in fewer seat sales. Benioff (CEO) likes PPC (‘Pay Per Chat’ in this case) and Millham (COO) says customers like ‘all-in’ costs.

I’m not sure that Venn diagram intersects.

What do you do as a customer budgeting for 3+ years? Try and stay as is, or roll the dice on the AI offering? How on earth would you forecast a PPC charge total?

I’d hate to own that cost centre from an IT perspective as it’s down to the quality of the AI agent and behaviour of customers - don’t have control over either of them. Obviously didn’t really have control over seat numbers but that’s easier to forecast and control with good relationships.

Not sure about ‘Your efficiency is my profit’ approach either.

But all this is the future and makes life easier eh?
